How It Works

A natural approach to language learning that keeps you engaged

1

Paste Your Content

Import any book, article, or text you want to read. We translate it behind the scenes and create a word-by-word mapping between English and French.

2

Read & Click to Learn

Start reading in English. When you encounter a word you want to learn, click it. The word transforms to French and gets added to your vocabulary.

3

Watch Text Transform

As your vocabulary grows, more and more of your text appears in French. You gradually transition from reading English to reading French naturally.

Under the Hood

How we make bilingual reading seamless

1

We translate your text to French

Your English content is translated into natural French using advanced translation.

2

We create word-by-word mappings

Each French word is mapped back to its English equivalent. The English might be slightly choppy, but it maintains meaning.

3

Your vocabulary unlocks natural French

As you add words to your vocabulary, you uncover the original, natural French text underneath. Common words you learn carry across all your content.

Example progression:

0% learned: "The small prince lived on a tiny planet"

30% learned: "Le small prince vivait sur une tiny planète"

100% learned: "Le petit prince vivait sur une petite planète"

Questions & Answers

What languages do you support?
Currently, we support learning French with English as your primary language. We're planning to add more language pairs in the future based on user demand.
What kind of content works best?
Non-fiction works best! Books on science, history, business, self-improvement, and similar topics translate well because they don't rely heavily on narrative voice or literary style. Fiction can work, but audiobooks of fiction often require an engaging narrator to be enjoyable.
How is this different from a translation app?
Translation apps give you the whole text in one language or another. GlossLingo creates a gradual bridge. You start in your comfort zone (English) and slowly build toward reading in French without ever losing comprehension. Your vocabulary persists across all content, so every word you learn carries forward.
Will the English text sound weird?
The word-by-word English mapping might be slightly choppy compared to the original, but it maintains full comprehension. Think of it as a scaffolding. As you learn more French words, you're actually uncovering the natural French text — which reads beautifully.
When will GlossLingo be available?
